The minimum depends on the lender, property and your circumstances. A larger deposit may give access to different products, but your budget should also allow for legal work, a survey, moving costs and any tax due on the property purchase.

Some lenders accept gifted deposits, subject to their rules and evidence requirements. Rahul can explain what confirmation may be needed from the person providing the gift.
The tax depends on where the property is located: Stamp Duty Land Tax applies in England and Northern Ireland, Land and Buildings Transaction Tax in Scotland, and Land Transaction Tax in Wales. A solicitor or tax adviser can confirm the amount and any reliefs.
